From time to time, Rancho Murieta Cable is subject to Professional Sports Blackout Regulations. These blackouts are not under the control of RMA Cable.
Sports teams may have sold the television rights to specific networks and those networks have the EXCLUSIVE rights to those broadcasts in their area. This can result in a national provider like ESPN having to blackout a game in an area where a Regional Sports Network has the rights to the game or a Network like CBS having rights in a region.
As an example....The Giants could be playing a game (home or away) scheduled to be shown on ESPN, however if Comcast Sports Network Bay Area (CSNBA) or Comcast Sports Network California (CSNCA) has the rights to that game ESPN will automatically blackout that game to cable operators in parts of California, Nevada and Oregon.
ESPN will simply turn off the signal to our satellite receiver or re-tune the receive to another ESPN channel (like ESPNews, etc.). Some blacked out ESPN games may appear on Ch. 26 (CSNCA) or Ch. 61 (CSNBA).
